BARISTA

As Barista, your job is to uphold the quality and consistency of our coffee while maintaining the speed in which it reaches our guests. We have worked with Extract Coffee Roasters in Bristol since we opened in February 2019 and love our house espresso, Cast Iron, for its rich full flavour. This is Extract's darkest roast and we serve a double shot as standard.

We also run a guest espresso and guest filter, alongside our house decaf. You will be responsible for dialling in and adjusting the grinders throughout the day, both in the main bakery cafe and our adjoining takeaway deli. You will also be expected to ensure all coffee equipment is properly maintained and looked after, identifying and escalating any issues as and when necessary.

Additional expectations include:-

Working with the Head of Coffee to develop and ensure our recipes are always within specification and ensure the front of house team are well-informed about our current offering

Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times

Work flexibly - you will be required to cover other positions where necessary (such as running food/drinks and clearing tables when available to do so)

This role would suit someone who thrives under pressure and can cope with the joys of a grinder bouncing when there is a line of tickets (as it inevitably does). It can be mentally and physically demanding and is more suited to someone with at least two years experience of working in a busy cafe environment.

Our working days are Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday (we are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays) although we could consider part-time hours for the right person.
